START BEFORE MOBILISATION
A safe delivery model begins in the tender stage. Scope assumptions, personnel profiles, equipment standards and reporting expectations should all reflect the risk level of the work.
By the time a team mobilises, the HSE framework should already be practical, resourced and understood.
- Align scope method statements with actual site conditions.
- Verify competence and PPE readiness before mobilisation.
- Set clear incident, permit and toolbox reporting routines.
MAKE HSE PART OF OPERATIONS
When HSE sits inside operations rather than outside it, supervisors use it to plan, schedule and release work. Toolbox talks become relevant, inspections become timely and corrective actions close faster.
This also improves contractor confidence because expectations are consistent from planning through execution.
HANDOVER SHOULD BE SAFE TOO
Close-out is part of the safety journey. Documentation, lessons learned, equipment condition, waste handling and residual risk all need clear handover.
The safest projects are the ones that protect people while also leaving behind an orderly, well-documented operation.
